Let’s honor Sue together by creating a small sacred relics, boxes to symbolize her profound teachings and the memories we shared with her.
Reliquary: a container or shrine where sacred relics are kept.
A relic is an object surviving from an earlier time, especially one of historic or sentimental value. Also described as a part of a deceased holy persons body or belongings kept as an object of reverence. In Buddhism, relics or “Sarira” are believed to hold magical powers, and are imprinted with consciousness; a crystallized manifestation of compassion and wisdom that spills out of the body during funeral rites. –Katie Hanczaryk
The box could contain (for example):
Natural objects, seeds, pods, etc.
A mini landscape, collage, diorama, word, phrase, name
Bits from a book, painted/edited book pages
Felted wool animals, felted soap
Jeweled pieces
For comparison, Jonathan Saiz’ work typically have the lid as the back panel. His boxes have been painted inside, outside, etc. Examples of his work:

Sue was a teacher and mentor in so many ways to so many people. Please create how ever you are inspired to do so.
Keep in mind: boxes are a smidge smaller than 2×2. They are only ¾ inch deep.
See Submissions post for details on options to obtain boxes and submit art.

Never mind. I just saw the other email. I’ll be sending my submission via regular mail. Just one box from me. Thank you so much for doing this. I really need this right now.
